Course Overview

COURSE TITLE

EUS-guided portosystemic pressure gradient (EUS-PPG) measurement system

COURSE OVERVIEW

In this medical device course, Dr. Ken Chang, experienced in EUS-PPG, will moderate and deliver chaptered didactics as described below:

  • Chapter 1: clinical consequences and significance of portal hypertension and how the transplant hepatologist and EUS physician work together in EUS-PPG
  • Chapter 2: current tools to diagnose portal HTN
  • Chapter 3: EUS-PPG origin, pre-clinical and clinical data
  • Chapter 4: set-up, technical considerations, FAQs
  • Chapter 5: EUS liver anatomy
  • Chapter 6: EUS-guided liver biopsy
  • Chapter 7: EUS-PPG case excerpts and case scenarios
  • Chapter 8: EchoTip® Insight®™ IFU training
  • Chapter 9: EUS-PPG procedure with EchoTip® Insight®™ and EUS-guided liver biopsy (Dr. Vanessa Shami)

Each chapter includes an engaging discussion with supporting faculty (Dr. Reena Salgia, transplant Hepatologist, Dr. Andrew Watson, EUS, Dr. Vanessa Shami, EUS, and Dr. Harshit Khara, EUS, and trained hepatologist), and all will share their experiences performing EUS-guided portosystemic pressure gradient (EUS-PPG).

After registration and completion of the didactic portion, physicians are required to engage in hands on instruction utilizing a mock scope and a simulation model to practice using the EchoTip® Insight®™ device. Additional instruction is provided at the local site with an attendee assessment of the physician's understanding of the Instructions for Use and how to use the device and take measurements correctly.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

• Learn how to use the EchoTip® Insight®™in a portosystemic pressure gradient procedure

• Increase proficiency in identification of key liver anatomy

• Gain an understanding of how to take the measurements and what they mean

• Listen to how the transplant hepatologists and EUS physicians work together in EUS-PPG

• Acknowledge the technical considerations and frequently asked questions (FAQs)

• View clinically relevant case excerpts and a complete EUS-PPG procedure

• Hear experienced physicians’ insights on EUS-PPG topics, including EUS-guided liver biopsy

RECOMMENDED ATTENDEES

• Skilled endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) physicians working at facilities with transplant programs 2

• Hepatologists working with their EUS physicians
