Course Overview

Experienced clinicians will teach the theoretical and practical skills necessary for the safe insertion of Seldinger-type pleural drains, with presentations, hands-on training using simulated models, and case discussions.

Course Objectives

  • Review pertinent anatomy
  • Discuss potential complications and preventive measures during Seldinger drain placement
  • Learn Seldinger pleural drain insertion
  • Practice insertion technique with featured devices, on manikins
  • Understand the application of ultrasound guidance relative to drain insertion
