Embolic Therapies

During the Embolic Therapies Lab, participants will embolize vessels in a wet lab with Cook Medical devices such as Nester, Tornado and MReye embolization coils. Participants will also attend lectures, interact with panelists, and discuss embolization methods and best practices. Topics covered may include the appropriate indications for PVA and coil devices as well as accurate vessel sizing and microcatheter navigation.

Embolisation workshops offer hands-on animal lab experience that is supported by lectures, interaction with panellists, and discussion with peers. Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the appropriate indications for PVA and coil devices.
  • Understand tools and techniques for solid organ embolisations (kidney, spleen, liver, contralateral, hypogastric).
  • More accurately size vessels and navigate with microcatheters
